Youth Choir. We are a group of dedicated, Christian youth who regularly serve with our singing at the Church of Evangelic Faith (CoEF) in Parma, OH. In the past few years, our choir has expanded its services outside of CoEF, visiting many churches throughout the eastern part of the U.S.
Our mission is simple – to acknowledge God’s presence in our daily lives and come together to praise Him while sharing that joy with those around us. God has blessed us with many members, and we are actively thinking about ways in which we can serve others. |
Want to Join Us?
Thinking about joining our choir? You don't have to be a professional singer to become a member. If you love singing and are willing to commit yourself to our schedule, then we gladly encourage you to consider signing up with us!
We ask that all members become familiar with the policy of our choir(see below). We wrote a set of regulations to help us become more efficient in our service to others. Each semester we are learning what works better for our team and are slowly incorporating those changes.
Before you make your final decision to become a part of our group, we ask that you carefully evaluate all the portions of our policy and decide if you can make the commitment. If so, please fill out the registration form and we are excited to have you on board!

Our Policy
Membership:
Anyone who is 15 years of age or older, who loves singing and has a desire to worship God is welcome to join CoEF Youth Choir. All members will have to complete the online registration, audition and then receive a seat placement if they wish to join and are responsible for following our guidelines. Membership will be maintained throughout the semester unless a Leave of Absence is incurred or a member chooses to no longer attend rehearsals. At that point, you are required to notify the head Attendance Person (AP) of your decision.
Seating Auditions:
Those joining our choir for the first time are required to audition. They will be evaluated based on this audition and notified whether:
a. they have been accepted OR
b. they should seek opportunities to improve their vocal ability and join the following semester.
Once accepted, each member will have a seat where they will be sitting until the end of the semester. If many new members join, auditions for all members are held in the beginning of a semester during choir rehearsal time. If only a small group of new members join, auditions will be scheduled outside of choir time just for new members. Previous choir members have the option to audition again if they believe they have improved.
Attendance:
Attendance will be taken during rehearsals and services whenever youth choir is serving. Our gatherings are usually scheduled in the format below. A detailed schedule with all the events is located here.
Every Wednesday:
Regular Rehearsal 8pm - 10pm
Sunday Evenings
Service 5pm - 8pm
Sunday Mornings
Service 8am-10:45
Service 10:30-1:15
All members are expected to attend rehearsals on a regular basis, barring unforeseen circumstances. We understand that many of our choir members work, attend school and are involved in other activities which might interfere with our schedule. For this reason, we will allow a certain number of absences per semester. The amount will be stated at the beginning of each semester and will vary based on the length of said semester.
If a member is continuously absent, they will be contacted by a conductor and if appropriate, given a leave of absence (LOA).
We ask that all members plan ahead and carefully evaluate their school and work schedules before the start of the semester so that we may build a cohesive choir. Missing any rehearsal, program or scheduled trip will result in (1) absence each, and reaching the allotted absences in a semester will result in losing membership for that semester.
Each member is expected to stay the entire semester; however, we understand that circumstances can arise (i.e. mission trip, 1/2 semester classes, etc.). If this is the case, please notify the AP at your earliest convenience. If approved, the member will have their absences prorated when he/she is able to join choir.
i.e.: If a member has a 1/2 semester class at school and wants to join choir halfway through a choir semester which allows a 6 absence limit, they will be able to join with 3 absences allowed.
Spring Semester: 7 absences
Fall Semester: 5 absences
Tardiness:
Weekly rehearsals begin promptly at 8:10 pm and we ask that you be in your seat at 8:10 pm or you will be considered tardy. If your school, job, or any other regular activities interfere with the choir schedule, but you still wish to participate in choir, you must get an approval to be able to come tardy. A tardy approval can be granted until 8:30 pm. If you are not on the approval list, you will be given 1 tardy. Since tardiness is disruptive to the choir as a whole and causes the member to miss out on vital information and/or warmups, it will be punished as follows:
3 tardies = 1 absence
*Tardiness to Sunday rehearsals on trips will result in $5 for every ten minutes you are late; collected money will go to end of the semester party and leftover funds will go to youth casa
Rehearsal Behavior:
Church Services:
Our youth choir aims to participate in church services twice a month. Attire is announced by a selected individual ahead of time to allow people to get appropriate clothing for the service. Those who wish to participate aside from singing in choir must sign up with a program leader in advance so the program can be put together on time. Not everyone can participate on stage every service, but all of us can participate by praying for those who serve.
Choir Trips:
Youth trips are planned based on invitations from other churches. We normally have two trips per semester and do our best to announce trip dates at least a month in advance so members can adjust their schedules accordingly. Trip tardy policy will be announced separately before the trip. Choir members are typically responsible for any costs associated with the trip, including payment to cover the cost of rental vans. If any member is in a financially difficult situation, he/she can reach out to the choir committee and his/her costs may be partially or completely covered by the church.

- Cell phones and other electronic gadgets must be kept silent and stored away in your purse or your pocket. If a member is caught using his/her cell phone repeatedly during choir practice, 1 tardy will be given and the phone will be held until the end of rehearsal.
- Food and beverages other than water are not permitted during rehearsals
- Binders are a property of CoEF and should not be taken home but collected after each rehearsal. If a member desires to have a copy of a song for any reason, he/she may access the music and notes under Resources. Copies will not be given out.
